THE FOOL
Directed by Alex Walton

Production/Scenic Designer + On-Set Dresser
PREPARATION:
Built a castle silhouette to be used as a background on the “Million Dollar Theatre” stage
Focused on four spaces of the theatre that most of the action would take place (The stage, dressing room, hallway and concession stand)
Took my experience from being an actor and worked hard to make the dressing room look lived in and like a dressing room an actor would have
Designed a “King Lear” poster for the film
Had lengthy discussions about how the actors in the film are still preparing for their performance of “King Lear” i.e. they are two weeks out from production so not everything is going to be all set up
EXECUTION:
Arrived on set and delegated my carpenters to start adding supports to the castle walls as the set dressers were in the dressing room getting everything set up
Gave the dressing room a lived in feeling
Worked one on one with the actresses and discussed the space and allowed them to feel comfortable and “at home” in the space i.e. Reginald wanted his King Lear script to be battered and used looking
